Watch You Rise
As a young filmmaker comes of age, she unearths stories of sexual assault experienced by her mother, her peer group, and eventually herself. Along the way, she meets survivors, perpetrators, and experts. Together, they explore the gray areas of sex, power, and consent—seeking to break cycles of harm and uncover radical possibilities for healing.
Youth face many barriers to receiving accurate, inclusive education about sexual intimacy, consent, and abuse. A lack of information — combined with rampant misuse of power fuels cycles of harm, breeds shame, fear, and trauma, and leaves young people without essential tools they need for protection and equality.
Every 68 seconds, someone in the United States is sexually assaulted, a reality that drives home the urgency we face today in the realm of sexual education through advocacy, coalition building, and policy.
Impact Campaign: The Toolkit
Watch You Rise's impact campaign, THE TOOL KIT, aims to equip young people and their communities to understand how sexual harm happens, not just in the headlines, but right here: In our friend groups, families, sports teams, art programs, religious communities, and beyond.
From every angle, we are uncovering the roots of sexual assault and fueling a movement to empower young people to have the resources to prevent, identify, and end cycles of harm.
The campaign will center on an online platform, which will include a space for survivors to share their stories, accessible and inclusive sex ed curricula, know-your-rights resources, resources to support perpetrators taking accountability and ending cycles of harm, information about how to support our impact campaign's legislative advocacy efforts, and more. The film will be used as a tool for discussion and advocacy through screening and impact events in red, purple, and blue states to spark conversations nationwide.
